Recurring reminders on Android
Most of what needs remembering comes round again: the bins, the rent, a renewal, a weekly call. In Nimits you set the pattern once, and each time it comes round the reminder rings until you answer it.
How to set one
- Tap New reminder on Home and give it a name.
- Pick the time from the two scrolling columns. There is no typing, so a time that does not exist cannot be entered.
- Choose how it repeats: Every day, Mon–Fri, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly.
- Use Every to space it out: every 3 days, every 2 weeks, every 6 months.
- Tap Save.
Every pattern it can ring on
| You want | Choose |
|---|---|
| Every morning | Every day |
| Every other day | Every day, every 2 days |
| Working days only | Mon–Fri |
| Tuesdays and Thursdays | Weekly, then tick the days |
| Every other Friday | Weekly, every 2 weeks |
| Rent on the 1st | Monthly, on day 1 |
| The second Tuesday | Monthly, second Tuesday |
| The last day of the month | Monthly, on the last day |
| Every quarter | Monthly, every 3 months |
| A birthday or a renewal | Yearly |
Months that are too short
A monthly reminder set for the 31st rings on the last day of shorter months, so February is never skipped. A yearly one on 29 February rings on the 28th in other years.
A heads-up before it
Remind me before adds a quiet heads-up ahead of the reminder itself, from 15 minutes to a week before. It suits anything that needs a little preparation, like a payment that needs money in the account first.
A run that ends
A daily or weekly repeat can stop after a set number of days, for something that only lasts a while, such as a two-week routine.
