Nimits vs a clock alarm
Plenty of people use the Clock app’s alarms as reminders. It works, until the alarm is turned off and the thing it was for still has not been done.
An alarm ends when you turn it off
A clock alarm rings at its time and stops when you dismiss it. Whether you did what it was for, it cannot tell, and it does not ask.
Nimits ends a reminder only when you complete it or skip it. Snooze is capped, so it cannot be pushed back for ever: when the snoozes run out, it is recorded as missed.
The same sound, more to it
Nimits rings on the alarm channel too, at your phone’s alarm volume, and asks to be let through Do Not Disturb. What it adds is around the ring:
- Monthly repeats, as well as daily, weekdays, weekly and chosen days
- Sub-tasks that ring in order
- An alarm type per reminder: Persistent, Once or Gentle
- History: what was completed, skipped or missed
Which to choose
- The Clock app, for waking up.
- Nimits, for things to do: the call to return, the bill, the bins, the appointment.
