Privacy policy
Nimits keeps your reminders on your phone. There is no account and no server copy of your schedule, so most of this policy describes what does not happen.
What stays on the device
Reminder names, times, categories, sub-tasks and your completion history are written to local storage on this phone and nowhere else. There is no sign-up, no sync, and no copy of your schedule on any server we run.
What leaves the device
From Nimits itself, one thing: diagnostics about the app, through Google Firebase. Crash reports carry a stack trace, your device model, your Android version and a random app-instance identifier. Google Analytics records that the app was opened, and a small number of events record that a reminder was created or a setting changed. How many alarms went off, and whether each was completed, skipped or snoozed, is sent only as a daily total after that day is over, so nothing records the moment you answered one. Your reminders, their times, their history, your categories and anything you type are never part of any of it. Speaking a reminder is covered in its own section below.
What is never collected
No advertising identifier, and no phone number or email address of yours. Nimits never reads your address book: if you choose someone to tell, Android's own picker hands Nimits that one name and number, which stay on this phone and are used only to fill in a message you then send yourself, from your own messaging app. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with advertisers. Nimits never asks for location permission and never reads where your phone is. The diagnostics above do travel over the internet, and Google works out an approximate region from the masked network address they arrive from, the same coarse signal any web request carries. It is not tied to a name or an account, and the app itself never sees it.
What you type into a reminder
Reminder titles, notes, times and the whole history behind them stay on the device. Whatever you choose to put in a reminder is yours alone: it is never used for advertising, never sold, and never included in a crash report or an analytics event. When you send a reminder or share a report, it goes only where you send it, through an app you pick. A sent reminder carries what it is and how it repeats, never its history, and its details ride in the part of the link after the #, which a browser never sends to our website.
If you speak a reminder
Speaking a reminder uses the microphone, and only while the listening sheet is open. Nimits does not turn speech into text itself: it asks your phone’s own speech service to. That is Android’s on-device service where your phone has one, which keeps the sound on the phone. Otherwise it is Google’s speech service, which Nimits asks to work offline. With its offline English on the phone, which most phones with Google services already have, the sound stays on the phone; without it, Google’s service may process the sound on Google’s servers, under Google’s own privacy policy. Nimits itself never records, keeps or sends the sound, and keeps only the text, in the reminder you save. The microphone is asked for the first time you tap it, and you can turn it off in Android settings at any time.
Why the app holds internet permission
Only for the diagnostics above. No reminder ever waits on a network: every alarm is handed to the operating system the moment you save it, so Nimits rings in aeroplane mode, with no signal, and with the phone offline for a week.
Backup and export
If Android system backup is switched on, Android may include the app database in your device backup. That copy is held by Google under your own account, not by us. A backup file you make in Nimits, and any report you share, holds your reminder titles and history in plain text and is saved only where you choose. Nimits uploads neither. Keep them somewhere private, and delete them when you no longer need them.
Deleting your data
Uninstall the app. Everything Nimits stores (your reminders, times, categories, sub-tasks and your full history) lives on this phone and is removed with it. There is no account and no copy of your schedule on any server we run, so nothing survives the uninstall for you to ask us to delete. If you switched Android system backup on, the copy Android keeps sits in your own Google account and is removed from there, not here. The diagnostics described above carry no name and no account, so there is no profile of you to erase; to have a specific crash report deleted, write to the address below.
Children
Nimits is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly hold their data. A parent scheduling a child’s routine is using their own phone and their own copy of the app.
